I am having an extremely difficult time with the holidays this year. It didn't start out that way. I had all my cards ready to be mailed on the first of December, my decorations were all ready to be placed on the bookshelves, the new stockings I had bought last year were ready to be embroidered with our names, and then my Grandma got sick.
I knew that she would be fine and that I didn't need to really worry. I sent out my cards. I put up my decorations. I called around to find someone who did embroidery. We decided to get our tree on my husband's next day off. And we were trying to figure out when we could get to our Christmas shopping.
My Grandma passed away during surgery. Routine surgery, a blood vessel burst and there was nothing they could do.
We flew to California for the funeral. It was very hard and so very sad. We came home and I have tried to make it as festive as possible for my children. I put up a tree. I have done some shopping. It is just not the same this year. I just can't bring myself to do all those things I normally do. Plus, we have had the worst time with our bank. I made a large deposit and was told I would have part of it by a certain date. Then I was told I would have it the DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS. Yeah, this year sucks. The boys have a few things and the rest will have to wait. Fortunately they are both too young to remember it.
You can bet your sweet bippy that I will though.
